Perez, Tony

Tony Perez is a Postdoctoral Associate in Duke University’s (USA) Psychology & Neuroscience Department. Tony earned his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at Temple University, USA in January 2012.  Tony’s research interests relate to the interplay between academic achievement motivation, identity development, and academic choice. Using an Expectancy-value theory framework, Tony's current research focuses on how the perceived costs of being a science major relates to the development of a science identity and persistence in science majors and careers. Tony’s scholarly interests grew out of his prior experience as a university career counselor, where many of the students he worked with struggled with leaving STEM majors.
