Tomasetto, Carlo

Carlo Tomasetto is an associate professor in Developmental and Educational Psychology at the University of Bologna, Department of Psychology. He is member of the Center of Gender Studies in Education (CSGE) of the Department of Education, also at the University of Bologna.

His research interests are mainly focused on the causes and detrimental consequences of gender stereotypes among young children. His current research is aimed at better understanding how implicit cognitive processes, on the one hand, and parental influences, on the other, affect children’s stereotyping of math as a male domain.

His recent works showing stereotype threat effects on math performance among 5-to-7 year old girls have appeared in top journals in the field (Child Development, Developmental Psychology).
